Kerrang! Award - Won for Best Band on the Planet in 2006



The Best Band On The Planet Award this year went to a band that has seen their musical career soar to extraordinary heights within the last two years. New Jersey goth-rockers My Chemical Romance have enamoured a massive fan base very quickly, and with the hit singles 'I'm Not OK (I Promise)' and 'Helena' tapping into the mood of disaffected youth everywhere, they've maintained a steady rise through the ranks to become one of the most popular alternative rock bands world-wide.




Kerrang! Award - Won "Best International Band" in 2007


U.S. act are leading the nominations of 2007 Kerrang! Awards with four nods. The band will go head to head with British metal group at top nominations including Best Single and Best Album. MCR's 'Welcome to the Black Parade' will battle in the Best Single category with Shikari's 'Sorry, You're Not a Winner'. Both are also tied against each other for Best Album for '' and '' respectively. True to their nationality, MCR and Shikari are nominated for Best International Band and Best British Band respectively. The last nomination for MCR will be Best Video for 'Welcome to the Black Parade', and for Shikari it's Best Live Band. The nominations are based on 387,667 votes that went through Kerrang! Magazine. It was announced at Oxford Street's Virgin Megastore on Wednesday (August 8). The awards' night will take place August 23 at London's The Brewery. Beside MCR, another U.S. outfit that is up for a big win is . The rockers are nominated for 3 categories, Best Album, Best Video and Best International Band. Meanwhile, other European acts standing the chance to take an award are Funeral For a Friend, Biffy Clyro, , Machine Head and last year's big winner , among others.
